This editorial project follows on from and includes part of the previous project.  It is a retrospective piece for the writer George Orwell.  The book focuses a four stories by Orwell.  1984, A Hanging, Shooting an Elephant and Animal Farm.  The book consists mainly of expressive typographic treatments that represent themes within each story.  Focusing a lot on the story ‘1984’ the book contains many images using a ‘constructivism’ style.  This lends itself well to the themes of a dystopian future and forces of oppression that are common in Orwell’s work.  The use of colour also reflects this by incorporating communist red.  I used the isometric style again here as it suits my image of a dystopian future.  I really enjoy this style and it is common in my work so far.  The pull out poster highlights the theme of ‘Room 101’ from ‘1984’.  A punishment room where people are sent to live out their nightmares if they step out of line in the future.  The image shows letters accumulating in a pile having fallen through the ‘0’ of ‘101’ above.  This also links with the theme of ‘The Memory Hole’ in ‘1984’ where any writing that doesn’t meet with the ruling powers version of the truth is erased by being thrown down the ‘memory hole’.  This is also represented by the small square opening in the container that holds the book.  So the book itself has been discarded down the ‘memory hole’.
